In Thornhelm, what once used to be six independent Kingdoms, have become Dominions ruled by the High Queen Ylvana. The original crowns have been lost, but their bloodlines are not forgotten, and the time of daughters has only just begun…

In the Way of Wolves – Book One
A hunter, a captive courtier, and a lost princess all have reasons
enough to hide from High Queen Ylvana’s mirrored gaze; but that is
easier said than done.
In a land where magic in controlled and monitored, shifters are
hunted, and crowns have been lost to time and history, Herdan
Fenricht finds himself under contract to kill the sacred White Stag
within the border of Kaldara, the realm of High Queen Ylvana. He
thinks he may get away with it, too, until he’s forced to run from the
Royal Guard, and leave his wolf behind. He climbs a magical tower,
and he must trust the enigmatic woman trapped there with him, or
doom his wolf to life in the Queen’s dungeons.
Zella Dubois has spent the majority of her life bound to High Queen in
the secret tower behind the Silver Citadel. But the gods seemed to
look upon her, as a hunter climbs her tower and offers an opportunity
to finally escape. His only request: help him break out his wolf from
the dungeons. Little does Zella realize who really lays deep below the
castle.
Eira Wyn Eisler, former Princess of Kaldara, wolf-shifter, and fugitive,
returns to the kingdom that forgot her, only to find herself in the last
place she wanted be. Now she must face her stepmother, the High
Queen Ylvana, and the man who betrayed her—the Queen’s Captain
of the Guard. She must use her strength of will to survive the
dungeons, and stay true to who she is.
Can Herdan and Zella find a way to break the wards on the tower? Will
Eira Wyn break under torture, or is she strong enough to survive, and
prove to the kingdom that forgot her that even a wolf is strong enough
wear the crown?
Find out in the first book of the Daughters of Thornhelm, In the Way of
Wolves.
“But it hurts,” little Eira Wyn’s lips trembled.
“I know,” Papa tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “But remember this, Little Snow. You were born in the fires of Ironvale. Iron forged by fire does not break.”
“I am not ice that can be shattered.” She whispered into the empty darkness of her cell as the memory drifted away. Lifting her hands, she tested the weight of the skefelt shackles on her wrist, before lowering them to the ground.
Palms pressed into the stone, pain shot through her arm, as her magic defied the limits of the skefelt. Fire licked at the still, small body of the mouse.
Eira Wyn wiped the blood from her nose, curled on her straw pallet, next to Reginald’s pyre and whispered, “I am iron forged by fire. You cannot break me.”

“There’s my sunbeam,” Herdan whispered.

Locked in the embrace of his gaze, Zella’s hair glowed with the sun’s powers like a beacon in the night. No song had summoned it. No deep pull from the well of her magic was needed. Not when her soul knew the melody of him.
